7 Best Podcasts for Teachers – Teacher Approved Podcasts

I’ll say it again and again…teachers have one of the hardest jobs out there! I am not a teacher and I’ve never worked in the classroom, but I did work in the school system and witnessed firsthand the hard work and dedication that is required to be a good teacher.

While I was making my rounds at the schools where I worked as a computer technician, I saw how many hats teachers had to wear in order to do their jobs successfully. Teachers are often left without the resources and support they need to simply focus on teaching.

I asked a few of my former co-workers and friends which teacher-related podcasts they listen to regularly an why.

I curated a list of the best podcasts for teachers that were mentioned by my teacher friends below.

1. Teachers Off Duty

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Comedy

If you’ve had a long day and you need a good laugh then I suggest listening to “Teachers Off Duty” brought to you by the Bored Teachers network.

My favorite thing about this podcast is that you get to hear the experiences of teachers from a diverse group of hosts. These teachers and former teachers cover a wide range of topics from mental health in the classroom to the insane excuses that kids give them on the daily.

You can check out some short clips on their TikTok account as well!

2. Teach Me, Teacher

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Courses

In this podcast, the Teacher becomes the student. Teach Me, Teacher is a podcast for educators that touches on topics that will help you expand your skills, get new ideas, and better your craft. The host brings on other educators and administrators to give insightful advice and tips on navigating the classroom.

Note: The host of this show, Jacob Chastain, has announced that he will be taking a hiatus from releasing new podcast episodes due to personal reasons. He plans on coming back to podcasting, but there is plenty of content to listen to until then.

3. Hot Mess Teacher Express

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Comedy

Don’t let the name of this podcast fool you! The host, Jess Smith, may have named this “Hot Mess Teacher Express” but she finds a way to connect with the listeners and inspire them to continue growing in the profession.

You’ll find yourself nodding along to a lot of what she has to say about teaching and laughing at the relatable stories that she tells.

4. Teacher Needs A Drink

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Education

This podcast is classified under Education but the host is sure to let you know that this is a NSFW podcast. I really like that the host and his guests use pseudonyms so that they can speak openly without having to worry about putting their jobs in jeopardy.

This allows them to be transparent which, in turn, makes them extremely relatable. The educational professionals on this show cover the good the bad and the ugly of teaching.

5. Too Dope Teachers and a Mic

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Self-Improvement

The hosts of this show, Kevin Adams and Gerardo Muñoz talk about the world of education through the lens of male persons of color. They met because they were the only Black and Brown teachers in their respective schools.

This podcast has a ton of relatable content for teachers of all backgrounds, but if you’re especially finding it hard to adjust as a teacher because you are BIPOC, then give this podcast a lesson.

6. Not So Wimpy Teacher

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Courses

Jaime Spears helps prepare grade school teachers by giving them resources, organization tips, and advice on how to be more productive in the classroom. She gives you insightful ways to connect with your students while maintaining your sanity as a teacher.

Are you feeling overwhelmed or burnt out as an elementary school teacher? I highly suggest listening to this podcast to get you back on track.

6. Crying In My Car

Listen: Apple | Spotify

Category: Comedy

This podcast is brought to you by the Bored Teachers Podcast Network and if you need a good laugh after a long day, I definitely suggest this podcast.

This podcast is unique because it touches on both the educator side and the parent side navigating the school system.
