The first podcast that I ever listened to was Crime Junkie and from the first episode, Ashley Flowers had me hooked. Back in 2018, I knew Ashley had a knack for reporting stories, but I had no idea that Ashley would become a household name in the true crime/ paranormal world.
She really needs no introduction, but Ashley Flowers has always been fascinated with the world of true crime. In fact, before she even started Crime Junkie, she hosted a short segment, one day a week on her local radio station called “Murder Monday”.
Eventually, Ashley left the radio station and started Crime Junkie with her childhood friend, Brit Prawat. Crime Junkie took off quickly and soon it was at the top of the podcast charts. Even though she encountered some bumps in the road, Crime Junkie remains at the top of the charts today.
Flowers is also the CEO and Founder of her own podcast and media network called Audiochuck. You may not know that the “Queen of True Crime” has a few other podcasts that she formerly or currently hosts as well. If you can’t get enough of her amazing storytelling then check out some of her other podcasts below!
Crime Junkie
The podcast that started it all. ‘Crime Junkie’ is still going strong with new episodes released weekly. Each episode covers a new case and case types range from solved cases to cases that have been cold for years.
Ashley has also vocally committed to telling stories of victims that may not get the media attention they deserve. This means that you’ll be hearing stories that you typically wouldn’t hear on other true crime podcasts.
The Deck
Before I listened to this podcast, I had no idea what the significance of the name of the show was. In hopes of finding new leads on cold cases, law enforcement agencies have created decks of playing cards with victims’ faces to hand out at jails and prisons.
Each week, Ashley Flowers “deals you in” as she tells the story of a cold case that is pulled from the deck. If you love a true mystery, then tune in each Wednesday to see if you have any clues that can help you solve the case on the card that is pulled.
The Deck Investigates
The first season of ‘Deck Investigates’ takes a deep dive into the cold case of Darlene Hulse, the 4 of Hearts from Indiana. Some cases require much more than just a 40-minute episode to clearly cover all the facts and details. The best thing about this case is that it seems so solvable.
I won’t give away any of the details of the case, but if you need a new podcast to binge, all 15 episodes are available to listen to now.
Supernatural
Alien abductions, electric superpowers, and strange hauntings are just a few of the things that Ashley Flowers covers in ‘Supernatural’. This podcast will have even the most skeptical person scratching their head at explaining what is going on in each episode.
If you are a fan of the unexplained then be sure to check out Supernatural.
Very Presidential
There is no doubt that holding the most powerful position in US politics has to be a stressful gig. How far do American Presidents go to hide their scandals? From cover-ups to love affairs and possibly even murder – listen to Ashley Flowers expose the dark secrets of presidencies that you may not have known existed.
Note: The episodes in this podcast were released every Tuesday through the 2020 Presidential election. There are currently 15 episodes of this podcast.
Full Body Chills
Full. Body. Chills. If you are a Crime Junkie fan, then you’ve definitely heard Brit say this a time or two. If the world of true crime is a bit too close to home for you, then have a listen to the fictional scary stories in ‘Full Body Chills’.
Note: Ashley Flowers is considered the host of this show, but most stories are narrated by other guests. Don’t let this discourage you from listening to the podcast, the voice actors are phenomenal.
International Infamy
Listen as Ashley Flowers takes you on a world tour of high-profile cases in different countries. If you think you’re getting your run-of-the-mill true crime podcast then think again. This podcast highlights the cultural differences in each case from around the globe that make them unique.
If you are ready to dive into the international world of true crime, then give International Infamy a listen.
Red Ball
Ashley teams up with the Indiana State Police to bring you ‘Red Ball’. In the podcast, she works closely with investigators to get all the details of the 41-year-old case, of the ‘Burger Chef Murders’. The show was released in the hopes of reinvigorating the case and possibly leading to an arrest.
Put on your detective glasses and take a deep dive into one of Indiana’s most notorious unsolved cases.
Ashley Flowers, the Executive Producer
There are also a number of podcasts that Ashley is the Executive producer for on her podcast network, Audiochuck. If you’ve made your way through the list of podcasts above, you can check out all of the shows that Audiochuck has to offer by going to their website: https://audiochuck.com/shows/
A few of my favorite shows include Park Predators, Counter Clock, Anatomy of a Murder, and Precedent.
All Hail to the Queen of True Crime, Ashley Flowers for dropping all of these gems.
