4 Podcasts about the Murder of Shanquella Robinson

The story of Shanquella Robinson broke out in late October of 2022. The 25-year-old arrived in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on October 28th, 2022 with a group of friends, and less than 24 hours later, she was declared dead.

The friends that she traveled with all claimed that they believed that Shanquella passed away from alcohol poisoning, but after a video of Shanquella Robinson getting brutally beaten was released, her family (and the public) believed that there was foul play involved.

Once the autopsy report was released, which was conducted the day after she died by Mexican medical Examiner Dr. Rene Adalberto Galvaan Osegura, it was discovered that Shanquella actually died from a broken neck. Her death certificate officially states, “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation.”

After the autopsy findings, the FBI officially announced that they would launch an investigation into the events that lead to her death.

Sallamondra Robinson ( Shanquella’s mom), who described her daughter as an intelligent, ambitious woman with a loving heart, is now on the hunt to find justice for her daughter by any means necessary.

Shanquella’s story is a strong reminder to keep your enemies close, but your friends even closer.

If you’d like more information on Shanquella’s story, please take a look at some of the podcast episodes below.

1. Black Girl Gone

Episode: MURDERED: The Murder of Shanquella Robinson

Black Girl Gone focuses on missing and murdered black women and women of color. This podcast was started because of the obvious lack of representation of black women in true crime stories.

Since the host, Amara Kofer, has a passion for telling these stories, you can expect an in-depth story about the facts that are surrounding Shanquella Robinson’s mysterious death.

Episode highlights

  • Hosted by a black woman
  • Extremely well-researched and put together
  • Focuses on the facts of the case

2. Rotten Mango

Episode: The Cabo Six – Killing of Shanquella Robinson

Stephanie Soo just has an amazing way of captivating her audience and things are no different in this podcast episode as she tells the story of Shanquella Robinson.

Stephanie really paints a picture by including a lot of details of who Shanqulla was before the tragic events of October 28th happened.

If you’re looking for more of a conversational kind of podcast where you can hear co-hosts MD & Steph bounce theories off of each other on what might have happened to Shanquella.

Similar to “Black Girl Gone” MD & Steph focus on true crime stories that cover the black community since they do not receive the coverage that they desperately need and deserve.

Episode highlights

  • Hosted by black women
  • More of a conversational podcast
  • One of the hosts is a lawyer so she gives some legal background to the case

4. Going West

Episode: Shanquella Robinson // 262

I love this podcast because the hosts Daphne and Heath are great at delivering the facts and nothing but the facts of every case that they investigate.

While this podcast does have 2 hosts, it’s less of a conversational podcast with the hosts trading off telling parts of the story and sticking to the script.

  • Hosts are great at delivering the facts only
  • Podcast has been around for 4 years so it is reputable
  • Audio is spectacular
