3 Podcasts That Help You Become Smart About Money

3 Podcasts That Help You Become Smart About Money

FIRE, 401K, Roth IRA, 529, credit card debt, assets, and liability … yeah, yeah, yeah all these words are giving me a headache too. And unless you are a member of some country club, it will be difficult to have smart talks about financial independence with your friends on Saturday night.

But in today’s world, where a pack of eggs is battling with lumber for the “highest inflation of the year” reward. Where landlords, retailers, universities, or car dealers keep adding additional fees to justify their crazy price increases, it is necessary to drop off your YOLO attitude and pay attention to your finance.

Among all the shows available, here is my top 3 pick to learn and become smart about money.

1. The Boss

The Ramsey Show

You guessed it right… Dave Ramsey. Dave is to financial education what Warren Buffet is to stock market investment. Young generations think their ideas and work are outdated, but we got to admit it, despite all crises and world events that happened in the last 20-30 years, these 2 guys remain the bosses.

The Ramsey Show produces a lot of content, like 3 podcasts a day but if that’s still not enough for you, Dave has created the Ramsey Network – 10 shows stamped with the R. I am not even sure it is possible to listen to all the episodes they post daily!

Personally, I like The Fine Print and Borrowed Future. The first one talks about things we see or listen to on tv or social media that are not always true, and the second one is about the tuition and student loan crisis in America.

2. My Favorite

The Money Guy Show is the first show I listened to about financial education. Bo and Brian are two financial planners and wealth managers, they know what they are talking about!

Overall, this show is more about building wealth and providing financial guidance on buying a car or a house for example. If your goal is not only to make it to the end of the month with what you have in your bank account, the Money Guy Show will give you the 9 steps to be an accumulator of wealth.

If I did not convince you to listen to this show yet, every year in January they release a podcast called “average net worth by age in 20xx”. They call it their most anticipated show and they are pretty right about it!

3. The UnderDog

Everybody loves the underdog, everybody wants him to win, and I have to have an underdog to cheer up!

Thebetterwallet show hosted by Marc Russell has my vote. Fairly new in the podcast world, Thebetterwallet will probably not appears in your top search but is worth your time listening.

While Marc’s story by itself is interesting, the core of his podcast is very hands-on with guest telling their own stories. And that’s also what makes his podcast interesting, you will hear from people with different experiences, backgrounds, or put simply: life.
